This wonderful logo depicts the woodpecker legend, which varies across the country.  The linking theme is a woodpecker pecking holes in a tree branch and when the wind blew across the holes a subtle sound was created.  According to this legend the sound created inspired a flute. This images shows the woodpecker pecking holes in a tree branch working it's way up the branch, drawn by Kappy Frederickson, to create the similar holes found on a Native American Flute.  This image is wrapped in an outline of the state of Oklahoma, the location of the Oklahoma Flute Fest.

Designed by Dennis and Kapotahi Frederiksen, and Mickel Yantz. Drawn by Kapotahi Frederidsen.  It is being used with  permission.
